Zurich’s Academic Crown: University of Zurich Launches Global Innovation Teaching Fund

The city of Zürich continues to shine as a global education hub with an important announcement from University of Zurich (UZH). The university has launched a new initiative, the Global Innovation Teaching Fund, designed to boost teaching formats aimed at international and mobile students.

Founded in 1833, UZH is Switzerland’s largest university and already trusted by students from across the world. With approximately one in four of its students coming from abroad, the university is setting a course to make its teaching even more globally accessible. The new fund supports departments and faculty who wish to develop hybrid, blended and internationalised courses tailored for students who may come to Zürich, or connect remotely. It aligns with UZH’s broader “Global Strategy 2030”, which emphasises 1) international collaboration with partner universities, 2) expanding access for global learners, and 3) offering flexible learning formats that combine online and in-person experiences.

For international students considering Switzerland, this means Zürich is becoming even more welcoming: whether you travel to the campus or take part virtually, you’ll benefit from Swiss-quality teaching adapted to a global student body. The city itself remains a safe, multilingual, culturally rich environment — ideal for personal development as much as study.

The university’s push toward flexible, globally-oriented education underlines Zürich’s strength as not only a home for excellent traditional study but also an adaptable, futurefacing destination. For students from abroad, especially those balancing travel, work or virtual attendance, the initiative sends a clear message: the Swiss academic experience is evolving to serve you.

In summary, if you’re exploring study opportunities abroad, Zürich and UZH stand out for combining tradition, global outlook and modern flexibility.
